چکیده
Objectives: The purpose of the study was to detect presence viral ribonucleic acid severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) in conjunctival swab along with nasopharyngeal specimens Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients. Material and Methods: Thirty COVID-19 patients at least one sample positive for real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction SARS-CoV-2 or absence ocular manifestations were included study. each patient collected sent microbiology lab evaluation analysis nucleic assess load. Results: Out 30 patients, 21 (70%) males remaining nine (30%) females. Mean age 44.80 ± 15.37 years. One had conjunctivitis as manifestation. Two (6.7%) out RT-PCR swab. There no statistical correlation between positivity using Pearson’s coefficient (r) = 0.010; P 0.995 (>0.05). Conclusion: results revealed that can also be detected swabs confirmed cases Although, comparison throat rate detection is relatively less, still diligent care precautions should practiced during ophthalmic

A comparative study of nasopharyngeal aspirate and nasal swab specimens for the diagnosis of acute viral respiratory infection (Supplement 4)
1. Direct immunofluorescence (IF) testing of nasopharyngeal aspirate (NPA) is the standard method used for the rapid detection of influenza A and B, parainfluenza 1, 2, and 3, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and adenovirus in cases of acute respiratory tract infections admitted to hospitals in Hong Kong. More child-friendly nasal swab specimens could be used to replace NPA. However this would...

conclusions despite rapidity, automation, accuracy, cost-effectiveness, high sensitivity, and high specificity of molecular techniques, each type of molecular technology has its own advantages and disadvantages. results various types of molecular biology tools can be used to detect and quantify viral genomic elements and analyze the sequences. these molecular assays are proper technologies for ...
متن کاملComparative study of nasopharyngeal aspirate and nasal swab specimens for detection of influenza.
The neuraminidase inhibitors zanamivir and oseltamivir have been shown to be effective in the treatment of influenza A and B viral infections. Both of these drugs are ineffective against respiratory infections caused by other microbes. Although the onset of influenza is often abrupt with prominent systemic features, the clinical spectrum of this disease is extremely broad and it cannot be relia...

INTRODUCTION Conjunctival swab PCR was evaluated as a tool to diagnose visceral leishmaniasis in dogs. METHODS Conjunctival swab PCR was compared to indirect immunofluorescence antibody test and blood PCR. RESULTS Indirect immunofluorescence was significantly correlated with conjunctival swab PCR (p < 0.05), but not with blood PCR (p > 0.05). In addition, conjunctival swab PCR was significa...

conclusions nucleic acid amplification tests (naats) are very appropriate in detection of infected individuals. detection techniques such as naats are independent of bacterial viability, and have a potential to limit false negative samples, therefore, in our country, the application of different laboratory diagnosis methods including naats with culture as gold standard for determination antimic...
